The mission of the Men's Golf Association is the promotion of good
fellowship and sportsmanship among its members and to encourage the active participation of its members in playing golf and taking
part in golf tournaments conducted in accordance with the rules of the U.S. Golf Association, except as modified by local rules of
the courses. This web site is for the use of all current MGA members as well as prospective members. Please use this site to keep current with tournament information, sign up for coming events and to keep your directory information up to date. We also hope you will use this tool as a means to communicate with your board. Your input is always welcome, and we hope that with everyone's feedback we will be able to continue to improve this organization. |

ARTICLE 1: NAME The name of tis organization shall be The Big Canoe Mens Golf Association, hereinafter called the "Association." ARTICLE 2: PURPOSE AND FUNCTION The pupose of this Association shall be: To provide a balanced golfing program with appeal to the full range of golfers. To promote fellowship and sportsmanship among members. To encourage maximum participation of the members in playing golf and competing in tournaments conducted in accordance with the rules of the United States Golf Association. To esablish rules and regulations pertaining to Association activities. To organize and conduct golfing and social events for the enjoyment of Association members. ARTICLE 3: MEMBERSHIP Any male proterty owner over 21 years of age in good standing with the Big Canoe Property Owners Association and any direct descendant over 21 years of age of a property owner can become a member of the Association upon paying the current annual dues. ARTICLE 4: MEETINGS OF MEMBERS There will be at least one general membership meeting per year. Also, the President or his designee may call any additional meetings, if warranted, by giving at least two weeks advanced notice to the membership. The number of members attending meetings constitute a quorum. The order of business at all general meetings shall be at the discretion of the President or his designee who shall be the chairman for the meeting. ARTICLE 5: OFFICERS AND ELECTION The officers of the Association shall be the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. The term of office shall be for one year and no member shall serve more than two consecutive years in the same office. Majority vote constitutes election. The management of the affairs of the Association shall be conducted by the Executie Committee composed of the four officers. At least 60 days prior to the annual membership meeting, the Executive Committee shall appoint a nominating committee from the membership. The members select by the annual meeting. Other nomininations may be made from the floor. In case of vacancies, the remaining members of the Executive Committee may designate a member to act as interim committee member until the next regular or special meeting of the membership. DUTIES OF OFFICERS The President shall be the chief executive officer. He shall have general supervision of the Association an shall preside at all its meetings. He shall appoint chairman of all committees and shall be, ex officio, a member of all committees. Upon completion of his term, he shall assist incoming officers in their assumption of the management of the Association. The Vice President, in the absence of the President, shall perform the duties of the President, and in the event the President is unable to fulfill his term of office, the Vice President will automatically assume the office of President. The Secretary shall keep records of meetings of the Association and will have charge of all papers and correspondence. In the absence of the President and Vice President, the Secretary shall perform the duties of the President. The Secretary shall be responsible for informing the Association membership of the events and activities of the Associaion. He shall assist the President in providing required notifications to the membership. The Treasurer shall receive all dues and other funds and keep an accurate account of the members of the Association. He shall deposit all monies received in the name of the Association in the bank designated by the Executive Committee and will dispurse funds as directed by the Executive Comittee. He will be prepared to present at any meeting of the Association an accounting of the financial status of the Association. In the absence of the other three officers he shall perform the duties of the President. ARTICLE 6: COMMITTEES The President shall appoint, from the Executive Committee, chairman of the Membership, Tournament, and Rules and Handicap Committees. Members of these committees shall be selected from the membership by the committee chairman. ARTICLE 7: FISCAL YEAR The fiscal year of the Association shall be November 1 to October 31. ARTICLE 8: FINANCES The Association is a non-profit organization. All income must be used for the benefit of the membership. Funds for the operation of the Association shall be derived from annual dues which shall be established by the Executive Committee, from entry fees for Association conducted events and from other fund raising activities as the Executive Committee shall see fit to undertake. ARTICLE 9: AMENDMENTS These By-Laws may be amended at any regular or special meeting, a quorum being present, by two-thirds vote of the members present. | ||||
